I am delighted to be able to confirm the two day workshop with Arawana Hayashi will take place for the first time in the UK on 11th and 12th of February 2009. Arawana will be in Germany working with the Presencing Institute and has kindly agreed join us here in the UK before returning to the US .
This 2 day workshop is specifically tailored to the coaching community and will explore embodied presence. Embodied presence is a practice for bringing fresh, creative, non aggressive energy into our work with clients. It is a technique for synchronizing the body and mind in the present moment. The resulting awareness then extends out to the social field and is expressed as clear perception and genuine, effective action. We will work with the Theory U and so this work centres on practice of Sensing, Presencing and Realising. Letting go of preconceptions and acting from Presence, allows true creative action to emerge.
In the workshop we will:
§ Deepen an understanding of Presencing and the Theory U
§ Discover ways to bring this work into our practice as coaches
§ Learn to bring space, awareness and play into everyday life
§ Cultivate a personal meditation and movement practice
Arawana will also lead us in guided meditation.
By way of background, Arawana combines her background in meditation and dance to explore embodied presence. She is a co-founder of the Presencing Institute where she teaches the Presencing Foundation course with Otto Scharmer and Beth Jandernoa and she is on the Creative Process faculty of ALIA’s Shambhala Institute for Authentic Leadership in Halifax , Nova Scotia . Arawana has presented programs with Peter Senge, Peter Block, Bill Joiner, Julio Olalla, Mark Gerzon and Michael Jones. I have had the privilege of meeting Arawana over four years ago when I first attended one of her workshops. I have since had the opportunity to continue my learning with Arawana and have found her work be both powerful and profound. I have valued learning through the four forms and have gained a greater awareness of “simply being present, connected to self and to the field. Arawana began studying and practicing Tibetan Buddhism with the Venerable Chogyam Trungpa in 1974 and has been named an acharya (senior teacher) in the Shambhala Buddhist organization by Sakyong Mipham RinpocheI. She teaches courses on Buddhism, Shambhala Art and Shambhala Training, a secular meditation program for developing the human potential for awakened confidence.
