I’m one of the teachers in an upcoming seminar Sunday Dec 9th. Here’s the blurb:
Not everyone wants to study aikido as a martial art, however everyone can benefit from aikido principles and movements. This workshop brings together three leading figures in the field of applied aikido to share their work. The day is open to non-aikidoka and experienced Sensei alike. You will gain from attending if you would like to:
•Explore a way to gain supplementary income for your dojo
•Gain a fresh perspective on Aikido
•Have fun and support a good cause (proceeds to Aiki Extensions
– a non profit organization involved in youth work and peace-building)
•Share aikido with friends and family who do not normally practice. Bring them along!
Workshop Leaders:
Piers Cooke Sensei – 6th dan, Association of Aikido in Everyday Life (ki style)
Piers uses aikido principles in his business consultancy firm Caddy Consulting, working in conflict resolution and change management training. Piers is also the Finance Officer for the British Aikido Board.
Adrian Tyndale Sensei – 5th dan BAA (Tomiki style)
Adrian is a UK Tomiki National Team member and founder of “Aiki-Robics”, a system of exercise based on aikido which he’s been teaching in the London area for a number of years, and which has appeared on national TV.
Mark Walsh – UKA (Aikikai Style)
Mark spent three years working with Aiki Extensions, studying under its leading figures and managing projects with executives in the USA, with the UN in Cyprus, slum kids in Brazil, peace-building in Middle East and with a HIV-awareness-circus in Ethiopia. He now runs a corporate training and holistic exercise business. Blog. UK Aiki Extensions.
Please note that this seminar will consist of a session of aiki exercises/principles lead by each teacher where little or no technique will be taught. The day will however end with the ever-popular “Tag Aikido” where all aikidoka present will get a chance to share their style.
Cost: Min donation to Aiki Extensions £12 or become a member for £26.
